Rates

General:

My rates are in line with the recommended minimum rates of the Association of Freelance Editors, Proofreaders and Indexers of Ireland (AFEPI).

Quotations:

If you would like a quote for a job, please email me at with the following details:

  • length of document (per thousand words)
  • type of document (book, report, dissertation)
  • service required (proofreading or copy-editing)
  • time frame

Please could you also send me a sample of your work (500-1,000 words).

Please note: if your work is part of an examination for a college or university (essay, dissertation, project), you will need to send me proof of consent from your institution (e.g. your supervisor).

VAT:

Irish Academic Editing is a proofreading and editing company registered for Value Added Tax (VAT) in the Republic of Ireland.

VAT number 4821659A

Irish Academic Editing must charge VAT at the 23% rate to all clients:

  • in the Republic of Ireland whether or not they have a VAT registration number, or
  • in the European Union who do not have a VAT registration number

Irish Academic Editing will NOT charge VAT to clients:

  • in the Republic of Ireland who have a VAT-exemption certificate, or
  • in the European Union who have a VAT registration number in their own Member State, or
  • in the rest of the world

Payment

For individuals, a booking deposit (which is non-refundable if cancelled with less than a week's notice) is required, and the balance is paid within 24 hours of the issue of the invoice. Invoices are sent with the completed work.

At busy times of the year, and with last-minute jobs, full payment is required in advance, and work will not start until this has been received.

For organisations, a deposit is not generally required, and the invoice is paid within 30 days of issue.
